Why Don’t I See Open or Click Tracking Data

Updated this week

Open and Click Tracking data may not appear for several reasons, such as tracking being turned off, emails sent in plain text, or recipient-side privacy settings.

This troubleshooting guide covers the most common causes and how to resolve them to ensure your tracking works as expected.

Q: Was tracking enabled before the campaign was sent?

A: If Open or Click Tracking was turned off at the time of sending, the system won’t collect any data. Make sure both tracking options are enabled before launching the campaign. They can’t be applied retroactively.

Q: Is Plain Text Email enabled?

A: If Plain Text Email was turned on, tracking features are automatically disabled because they require HTML formatting. You won’t get any open or click data unless the email was sent in HTML format with tracking turned on.

Q: Could the recipient’s email client be blocking tracking?

A: Yes. Some email clients (like Apple Mail with Privacy Protection) block tracking pixels and link redirects. This means opens or clicks may happen, but the system won't be able to detect them.

Q: Did the email land in spam or go unopened?

A: If your email wasn’t delivered to the inbox (e.g., it landed in spam), recipients are unlikely to open or click it. Always monitor deliverability, domain reputation, and spam triggers.

Q: Is there a reporting delay?

A: Some platforms take a few minutes to update tracking data. Try refreshing the page after a few minutes to see if the data appears.
